Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 with the objective of maximizing profit through manufacture and supply of petroleum products and other related business in a reliable, ethical and socially responsible manner and to be a world class energy company with a dominant presence in South India. CPCL is a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOC). CPCL is a Schedule ‘B’ Mini-Ratna CPSE in Petroleum sector under the administrative control of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Its Registered and Corporate offices are at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The shareholding of the Indian Oil Corporation in the Company is 51.89%. The authorized and paid up capital of the Company was Rs. 1400 crores and Rs. 1149 crores respectively as on March 31, 2017.

The applicant should be an engineering graduate preferably in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering with good academic record from a recognized University/ Institution.
Applicants holding MBA/ Post Graduate Diploma in management will have an added advantage.


The applicant should have adequate experience at senior level in an organization of repute, out of which at least five years during the last ten years should have been in technical aspects of Petroleum refining.


The minimum length of service required in the eligible scale/rank/level will be one year for internal
candidates, and two years for others as on the date of vacancy.
(a) Applicants from CPSEs should be working in the following or a higher pay scale:

6. Rs. 37400-67000 + GP 8700 (CDA)
i. Applicants from Central Govt. / All India Services should be holding a post of the level of Director in
Govt. of India or carrying equivalent scale of pay.
ii. Applicants from the Armed forces of the Union should be holding a post of the level of Brigadier in the Army or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force.
(c) Applicants from State Public Sector Enterprises/ Private Sector should be working at Board level
position or at least a post of the level immediately below the Board level.


Central Government Officers, including those of the Armed Forces of the Union and the All India Services, will be eligible for consideration only on immediate absorption basis.


The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or upto the date of superannaution or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

(e) Below Board level in SPSE: through the concerned SPSE.
(f) Private Sector: directly to the PESB.
