About Organization:

The history and development of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is synonymous with the development of Aeronautical industry in India in the course of recent years. The Company which had its starting point as the Hindustan Aircraft Company was fused on 23 Dec 1940 at Bangalore by Shri Walchand Hirachand a farsighted visionary in relationship with the Government of Mysore with an Authorized Capital of Rs.4 crores (Paid up capital Rs.40 lakhs) and with the point of assembling air ship in India. In March 1941, the Government of India wound up plainly one of the investors in the Company holding 1/3 of its paid-up capital and in this manner assumed control over its administration in 1942. In a joint effort with the Inter Continental Aircraft Company of USA, Hindustan Aircraft Company initiated its business of assembling of Harlow Trainer, Curtiss Hawk Fighter and Vultee Bomber Aircraft. In Dec 1945,the organization was set under the authoritative control of Min. of Industry and Supply. In January 1951, Hindustan Aircraft Private Limited was set under the Administrative control of Ministry of Defense.

The Company had assembled air ship and motors of outside outline under permit, for example, Prentice, Vampire and Gnat airplane. It additionally attempted the outline and improvement of air ship indigenously. In August 1951, the HT-2 Trainer air ship, outlined and delivered by the organization under the capable administration of Dr. V.M.Ghatge flew out of the blue. Almost 200 Trainers were produced and provided to the Indian Air Force and different clients. With the slow working up of its outline capacity, the organization effectively planned and created four other air ship i.e. two seater ‘Pushpak’ reasonable for flying clubs, ‘Krishak’ for Air Observatory Post(AOP) part, HF-24 Jet Fighter ‘(Marut)’ and the HJT-16 Basic Jet Trainer ‘(Kiran)’.
